Logos or Images can be created in Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or any graphics program which will allow for setting the specifications as required.

The size, resolution and file format for the graphic logos will be different for printing with a Standard Windows Print Driver then when printing using the Fast Ticket option.

Please note: Configuring an image in bitmap mode IS NOT the same as saving the file in the BMP format. The Bitmap Mode is the simplest of graphic image formats in that the pixels of the graphic are either black or white. Graphic programs such as Adobe Photoshop allow you to convert or set graphics in a Bitmap mode. Both Standard and Fast Ticket require the graphic to be in a Bitmap Mode. Some basic paint type programs may not allow you to convert to the Bitmap Mode.

Standard Windows Ticket Printing

·         Images must be black and white and set in a bitmap mode.

·         Images must be created 1.75 inches by 1 inch in size

·         Resolution must be set to 300 dpi

·         File to be saved in the BMP format

If the printer used is a BOCA  or Practical Automation ETX/LTX series, then the logo will face right side up and to the right as shown.

If the printer used is a Datamax or Practical Automation GTX series, then the image needs to be created upside down and to the left as shown below. The file may need to be rotated in the paint program so that it faces the correct direction.

If you would like to use the same default logo for printing on all events, the default logo must be named def_logo.bmp. If you would like to use a special logo for only certain events, any other filename can be used.

Fast Ticket Printing

For using the Fast Ticket printing option, there are several changes which make the logo different than the Standard Windows Ticket printing above.

·         Images must be black and white and set in a bitmap mode.

·         Images must be created 1.75 inches by 1 inch in size

·         Resolution must be set to 200 dpi

·         File to be saved in the PCX format

The file may need to be rotated in the paint program so that it faces the correct direction. For Fast Ticket, the logo needs to face right side up as shown below. If you are converting a logo previous created for Standard Windows format above, you may need to rotate it. You will also need to set it to 200 dpi.

Any filename can be used unless it is your default logo. The default logo must be named

def_logo.pcx. All Fast Ticket graphics must be saved in the PCX format.

Creating a Large Center Graphic

Use the following specifications to create a graphic which prints in the main or center section of the ticket. To print a center Graphic on the ticket a special format id 2 must be entered in the event information file on the ticket tab. Fast Ticket does not support the option of printing the center graphic. The graphic is right side up for Boca and Prac. Auto. ETX/LTX. Upside down for Datamax and Prac. Auto. GTX.

·         Images must be black and white and set in a bitmap mode.

·         Images must be created 3.25 inches by 1.25 inches in size

·         Resolution must be set to 300 dpi

·         File to be saved in the BMP format

Storing the Files

Store the files in a file folder named Logos. The Logos folder needs to be a sub directory of your Folio Temp directory. Go into Folio|Utility|Preferences|Field Defaults. Whatever is listed as your “Path for Temporary Files” is where to place the Logos directory.

Using special logo Files in your Events for Ticket Printing

If you have multiple graphic logos you want to use for various events then you will list them slightly different for Fast Ticket. Even though the filename for Fast Ticket has the PCX extension, you will list your graphic in your event setup as though it would have a BMP extension. Ex: if the logo was named logoextra.pcx, you would list it on the event as logoextra.bmp. The reason for this is that there may be some users who are running both Standard Windows and Fast Ticket on different workstations. Folio will know which format to use based on the layouts for the individual printers.

Troubleshooting graphic printing

If logos or images are not printing on your tickets check the following.

1)      Make sure the logos and images are saved in a folder named Logos at the location specified in the path for temporary files specified in Folio under Utility – Preferences – Field Defaults. The images must be saved locally on each computer the prints Folio tickets.

2)      Make sure your logos or images have the appropriate file extension set. When viewing the name of the logo or image, check your computer setting to insure your computer does not have “Hide Extensions for Known File Types” enabled in folder options which may cause an incorrect file name such as:  def_logo.bmp.bmp to view as def_logo.bmp because you are not able to view the file extension.

3)      Restart your Printer and restart Folio.
